Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has not taken a backseat since joining the Azimio La Umoja coalition and declaring support for ODM leader Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

Speaking during a rally in Machakos on Wednesday, March 17, 2022, the Wiper leader rallied members of the public to through their weight behind his party in a bid to boost its presence in the next August house.

Kalonzo stated told the Kamba community that he needs the numbers to remain a significant force within the Azimio la Umoja coalition.


He told the public that he negotiated the Azimio la Umoja deal with the interest of the Kamba people at heart, adding that he needs the numbers in parliament to ensure the deal is adhered to.

"I am appealing to every leader in this region to join Wiper so that you can give me strength in Azimio, whose key decision-makers are myself, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr Odinga,” he said.

He noted that the numbers will be instrumental in impeaching Odinga should he fail to adhere to their deal.

“With many Wiper members, we shall be able to impeach Mr Odinga if he fails to honour the deal we signed," Kalonzo stated.

He was addressing mourners at a burial ceremony in Kalumoni village, Machakos County.

Kalonzo's remarks came days after he vowed to hit the campaign trail immediately Odinga becomes president if he wins in the August polls.

Kalonzo credited Deputy President William Ruto for his early campaigns, noting that the move gave him the popularity he now enjoys and a stab at the country's highest office.
