Deputy President William Ruto led his Kenya Kwanza brigade in campaigning in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Gatundu backyard on Friday. 

The DP rooted for his bottom-up economic model while urging residents to support his presidential bid ahead of the August election. 

While campaigning in Mutomo, Gatundu, DP Ruto told the residents he had a message he wanted delivered to President Kenyatta.

The DP told the residents to remind Kenyatta that he campaigned for him and helped him ascend to power. 

"Mimi nataka niwatume, mwambieni Ruto amesema ata kama ameamua kumuunga mkono mtu ya kitendawili, namuomba kwa unyenyekevu, asitumie ile kisu nilisaidia yeye kupata kunikata miguu. Mwambie huyo Ruto ambaye unampangia, ni yeye mliombewa na yeye hapa Gatundu na mama Ngina alikua. Tafadhali usimuumize," DP Ruto told Gatundu residents.

He urged the locals to persuade Kenyatta to stand aside and let him deal with Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga. 

"Mwambieni Uhuru ata kama hataki kunisaidia, aniwachie huyo mzee ya kitendawili, mimi niko tayari  yeye kupambana nayeye, yeye asimame kando mimi nitamalizia huyo mzee wa kitendawili," DP Ruto told the gathering.
