President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday sent a message to a section of boda boda operators in Nairobi after he recently ordered a crackdown on the sector.

Speaking at Kariobangi, Nairobi during the launch of Mama Margaret Kenyatta Children Hospital, the Head of State asked the boda boda riders to ignore politicians politicking on the issue.

The President further assured the operators of a meeting to iron out issues and determine a way forward to allow order.

"I know that you have seen what some of the politicians are saying about boda boda. Ignore them. I promise that we will hold a meeting soon with some of you so that we can create a framework to respect women and do work in order," the President remarked.

His sentiments came barely days after his ddeputy, William Ruto, asked the boda boda operators to go for their motorcycles that had been impounded at police stations.

"All boda-boda operators whose motorcycles were impounded and charged unlawful fines should go and collect them from police stations," Ruto told a charged crowd in Ngara Wednesday.

The DP also declared that the boda boda operators were fined illegally and there money should be returned for smooth running of their businesses.
