Waruru thanked employees for their commitment and diligence during the harsh Covid-19 period that saw their salaries cut.

Royal Media Services employees will henceforth receive their salaries in full after working under pay cut owing to the Covid-19 pandemic that led to businesses going down.

Notice by Managing Director Waruru Wachira indicates that employees will now receive their salaries in full.

This was communicated in an internal memo whose details Nairobi Leo has accessed.

Waruru thanked employees for their commitment and diligence during the harsh Covid-19 period that saw their salaries cut.

"In March 2020, I issued a communication to all staff on the pandemic and its impact on our business. I explained the unfortunate necessity to implement salary cuts and the board has been reviewing the situation throughout this period," Memo by Waruru reads in part.

The employees were subjected to 20 to 30 per cent salary cuts depending on the Salary group.

"On behalf of the Board and Management, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to each one of you for your sacrifice and patience throughout this most challenging period. We look forward to your continued diligence and commitment as we work to restore the company to full recovery," Waruru said in the memo.

Other media houses that had imposed pay cuts on their employees include Mediamax Limited, Nation Media Group, the Standard Media Group and Radio Africa Group.

Standard and Nation resumed payment of full salaries last year 2021.
