The Government has declared a 30-day dusk-to-dawn curfew in parts of Garissa County.

In a statement by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday, the State announced that the curfew was due to increased cases of insecurity arising from conflict of land and other resources.

The areas where the curfew has been imposed are in Garissa Central and include; Bulla Othan and Bulla Mzuri (Waberi East location), Bulla Takawal (Waberi West location), and Bulla Rakhama (Iftin location).

"Incidences of criminal attacks fuelled by conflicts over land and other resources have been reported in parts of Garissa Central Division, in Garissa Sub County of Garissa County. This has triggered retaliatory attacks and the loss of life, destruction of property and created tensions in the affected areas," the statement read in part.
