The family of Lawrence Warunge has appealed to the court not to release him on bail. This is after he allegedly threatened to kill his remaining family members.

The story of Lawrence Warunge shocked the country in January 2021, when he reportedly killed his four family members and a farmhand at their home in Kiambaa, Kiambu County.

In a written submission to the court, the family say that even from prison he has threatened to kill the remaining family members. They further alleged that he had promised to kill his two sisters who were in school at the time he killed their father, mother, brother, and cousin.

The family filed the petition through their lawyer Ndindi & Nadida Advocates.

“The accused, through different numbers that emanated from the remand prison threatened the life of his cousin and his family,” the Warunge family has told the court”

‘The Warunge and Njenga family have expressed that they do not wish for the accused to be released from custody throughout the length of the case. This is due to the following reasons: The accused, during his arrest, expressed that he had every intention to kill his remaining two sisters and other members of the family as well” the court was told

This comes after the 22-year-old through his lawyer Ntenga Marube moved to Kiambu High Court seeking to be released on bond.

”I spoke to my client and he wishes to apply for bond. We seek a pre-bail report,’’ Marube said.

Warunge is facing charges of brutally killing his father Nicholas Njoroge Warunge, his mother Ann Wanjiku, his brother Christian Njenga Njoroge, their adopted nephew Maxwell Njenga, and a farmhand.
