Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Ngirici has maintained that she will be vying for the Kirinyaga Governor seat on the Independent ticket.

In a statement on Facebook on Friday, the Woman Rep appeared to indirectly deny reports that she will be joining the ruling Jubilee party and use its ticket to vie for the governor seat.

Ngirici went on to exude confidence that she is winning the governor seat in the August 9, polls.

"In 2017 when barely anyone knew we existed, we found our space in the arena. Farasi ni mmoja, tutapita kati kati yao. Kirinyaga Kwanza✅ Finishing Strong✅ Governor 2022✅ Independent✅," She tweeted.

Earlier on, deputy President William Ruto's digital strategist Dennis Itumbi had claimed that Ngirici is joining Jubilee this Friday.

Itumbi claimed the MP was one of the many MPs and aspirants who were persuaded to join the ruling Jubilee ahead of the August 9, polls.

Reports have been rife on social media over the looming defection to the Jubilee party.

Allies of the Jubilee party have hinted at a major political earthquake, signalling a possibility of having major defections.

The ruling party extended the deadline for registration for nomination to Friday, March 25, to allow for members to join the party.

Registrar of Political parties has set Saturday, March 26, as the day when aspirants can belong to a particular party.
