In a tweet, ODM termed as fake news a statement claiming that the party was irked by the decision to postpone the BBI signature launch that was set for Thursday.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has dismissed claims that the party is becoming impatient with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

In a tweet, ODM termed as fake news a statement claiming that the party was irked by the decision to postpone the BBI signature launch that was set for Thursday.

“Our SG @edwinsifuna has neither spoken to any news source nor released any press statement on the BBI and in particular on yesterday’s meeting between Pr. Kenyatta and his Deputy. So such FAKE quotes by FAKE people should be treated as such,” ODM tweeted.

BBI signature launch postponed

Meanwhile, the BBI signature collection launch that was set to happen on Thursday November 19, 2020 was postponed indefinitely.

According to a statement by the BBI referendum national secretariat, the signature collection launch that was to be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila Odinga was rescheduled due to “late completion and publication of the Constitution Amendment Bill 2020”.

Before the event was postponed, media reports indicate that President Kenyatta had a meeting with his deputy William Ruto who has been vocal in opposing some proposals in the BBI report.

According to media reports, the meeting may have played a vital role in cancellation of the signature collection launch.
