Mwatsau, a UDA parliamentary seat aspirant, was accosted by gunmen at Tudor, an informal in Mombasa.

Reports indicate that the gunmen were in two vehicles and that they disappeared immediately after they attacked the politician leaving him for dead.

Mwatsau was rescued by a tuk-tuk driver who rushed him to the hospital and got admitted immediately.

He sustained injuries on his arms and legs as a result of the tragedy.

Detectives reportedly revisited the scene and collected basic exhibits that will aid in their investigations.

The incident happened about 1.7kilometers from Makupa Police Station, a matter that has raised eyebrows on the safety of residents.

The police statement on the tragedy is yet to be released. His vehicle was towed to the police station as the probe continues.
