National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has now joined deputy president William Ruto's camp.

Muturi joined Kenya Kwanza during a function held at a hotel in Karen, Nairobi.

While delivering his speech about his joining the Alliance, Muturi invoked DP Ruto's signature campaign phrase "Sipangwingwi".

He made reference to the term while explaining why he joined the alliance after he said that a section of people wanted him to move in a particular direction that he was not interested in.

Ruto has been using the phrase 'sipangwingwi' to pass a message that how Kenyans will vote in the August 9 polls won't be influenced by a few influential people.

The term was, however, banned on Friday by the NCIC, a move the DP opposed and has instead continued to use it.

When explaining his choice to work with the DP, the speaker said: "Ata mimi sipangwingwi. Wale walikua wanafikiria wanaeza kunipanga poleni. Hii miaka yangu hainiruhusu kupangwa na mtu".

Loosely translates to: "Even me I cannot be directed on a political direction to take. Those who thought can direct me on where to go I'm sorry. AAt my age, I cannot be told which way to go".

Muturi said his choice to work with the DP was after intense consultations.

The Speaker used the occasion to lash out at those who were keen on pushing him toward a particular political direction saying their mission was dead on arrival.
