The United Democratic Alliance party primaries in Bomet County turned chaotic on Thursday morning after marked ballot papers were discovered in a house where nominations officials were residing.

The incumbent senator Christopher Lagat, aspiring Senator Wilson Sossion, and Former Petroleum CAS John Mosonik are among those who demanded the postponement of the exercise.

The group, which was speaking in Tenwek, lamented over the exercise saying it was already predetermined as the marked ballot papers were done in favour of specific candidates.

"Our people have managed to find these pre-marked ballot papers. We are asking the Returning  Officers to engage the National Elections Board to engage and call of this exercise."

Mosonik on his part said the exercise should be called off given that it has begun on a bad note.

"We raised issues on the recruitment of the nominations officials. We were ignored. These marked ballot papers are a clear indication that there will be no nominations in this country," he said.

The aspirants have now demanded that the exercise be called off so that a free and fair credible process can be organized with immediate effect.
