Ongwae opined that the duo should serve as a lesson to politicians who have been nurtured from grass to grace by ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

Kisii Governor James Ongwae has taken a swipe at nominated senator Wilson Sossion and his counterpart Isaac Mwaura after their respective losses in the UDA party nominations.

Ongwae opined that the duo should serve as a lesson to politicians who have been nurtured from grass to grace by ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

The county head, who plays an integral role in Raila's 2022 presidential campaigns, claimed that Mwaura and Sossion turned against the opposition chief after he helped them climb the political ladder.

"A good lesson to many especially those politicians whom Baba Raila Odinga nurtured from grass to grace like Isaac Mwaura and Wilson Sossion among others. They later turned against him, led a brigade to disrespect him but God's voice through the people is loud & clear," the Kisii governor posted.

Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura

The duo, who are erstwhile members of the Orange Democratic Movement, were respectively handed nominations slots by Raila. Sossion was nominated to the senate by ODM after the 2017 elections while Mwaura was nominated to parliament after the 2013 elections.

Sossion recently ditched Raila for UDA as Mwaura crossed over in 2017 to the ruling Jubilee party, which he would later ditch for Ruto's UDA party.

The lawmakers have however registered losses in UDA primaries which were held across the nation on Thursday.

Isaac Mwaura, who was gunning for the Ruiru parliamentary seat, lost to the incumbent MP Simon Kingara. The nominated senator has since dismissed the outcome of the nominations citing vote-rigging. Sossion had also raised rigging claims before the conclusion of nominations in Bomet. The former KNUT Secretary General was seeking the UDA party ticket for the Bomet senate seat.
