Mwaura said he will now concentrate on DP Ruto's presidential campaigns

Just a day after he was defeated in the hotly contested Ruiru constituency UDA party nominations, nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has conceded defeat.

Through a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mwaura said it was high time he joins hands with his competitor Simon Ng'ang'a, who won the party's ticket.

According to Mwaura, who is commonly known as 'Muthungu wa Ruiru' it is now time for him to heal after the nominations and move forward into the August 9, general polls.

His competitor Ng'ng'a was announced the winner and will fly the party's ticket in August after garnering 4, 688 votes beating Mwaura who came second with 2, 428 votes.

"Joining hands with my competitor Simon Ng’ang’a today at Kist county tallying center after he was declared winner of the Ruiru parliamentary seat that I hotly contested for. It’s now time to heal the deep wounds out of the party primaries and thus move forward toward the August general elections" read Mwaura's statement.

The Ruto allied senator said his decision to concede was to provide him and other UDA members with ample time to campaign for William Ruto's presidency and ensure he wins the general elections.

He said the party's interests and that of the people come first over their own.

"This is to ensure that the party remains united and focused on our aim of ensuring that H.E Deputy President William Ruto becomes the 5th President our great country. The party and its ideals are far much greater than any one of us. Putting GOD first, we shall win!! I thank you!" he added.

Mwaura had earlier cried foul after the tallying exercise was delayed over alleged malpractices. This was after three polling stations in Mwiki Ward failed to conduct the nomination exercise over violence.

The itch came about after MCA aspirants failed to agree on the provided register and delayed in delivery of ballot materials.

However, the incumbent MP Simon Ng'ang'a was later announced the winner after the matter was settled.
