44 Teenagers arrested in Mountain View

The arrest of the 21 comes barely a day after detectives arrested 44 teenagers in Mountain View estate, Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the 44 teenagers were made up of; 26 boys and 18 girls aged between 14 to 17 years. They were hosted by a 41-year-old woman.

Investigations have commenced to establish how the 44 children ended up at the lady’s home, with the DCI urging parent to watch their children keenly.

“Detectives last night arrested 44 school children and their host, and seized various brands of alcohol and bhang in a house at Nairobi’s Mountain View Estate. The children – 26 boys and 18 girls - are aged between 14 and 17 years. All are in primary and high schools. Their host, Millicent Kithinji, aged 41, was picked up for questioning by detectives based at Dagoretti. Officers seized different brands of Whisky and vodka & bhang (cannabis Sativa). Preliminary investigations revealed the children were from Nairobi, Kiambu Machakos counties.

“…Investigations are ongoing to establish how the children sneaked out of their homes and travelled that far without raising suspicion from their parents. Police also want to establish why the woman had hosted the children and how the children got to her house. The DCI once again requests parents to take keen interest in their children’s activities at home and on the social media networks,” DCI said in a statement.
