President Uhuru, however, shook hands with Kibaki's family members and religious leaders present.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was the long-awaited man at parliament buildings after the body of the late President Mwai Kibaki arrived for public viewing.

Deputy President William Ruto, Speaker of National Assembly Justin Muturi, his Senate counterpart Kenneth Lusaka and a host of senior government officers had staged a line to receive and welcome the Head of State for the exercise.

The President finally arrived and after he stepped out of his official car, he opted not to shake the leaders' hands but instead gave them a greeting sign to acknowledge them.
