The ODM leader was speaking to a section of Kenyans living in the United States.

Azimio presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga has opened up about the incident where his chopper was pelted with stones in Uasin Gishu County.

Speaking on Sunday, April 24, during his tour of the United States, the ODM leader told Kenyans living in the US that the goons hired during the incident were after their lives.

“Some goons were hired and they actually wanted to kill us. The attack was vicious, were it not for the actions of the police officers the damage could have been much more devastating,” Raila stated.

Raila further added that the attack was planned well, pointing a finger to his political rivals who he claimed schemed the incident.

"Our adversaries have tried so many things, they came up with a very divisive ideology of the rich vs. the poor and it did not work,” he remarked.

The incident happened on April 1, when the former Prime Minister was attending the burial of Jackson Kibor in Uasin Gishu home in Eldoret.

17 suspects were arrested by police over the incident but 15 of the 17 have since been released after the prosecution found them with no case to answer.

Soy MP Caleb Kositany and his Kapseret counterpart Oscar Sudi were questioned by DCI detectives over the incident.

The duo, however, said that it was a political witch hunt by the State caliaming that the police new the people who were behind the incident.
