Raila Asks Crucial Question After Being Told Not to Talk Politics at Kibaki's State Funeral

ODM leader Raila Odinga's opportunity to address Kenyans during the late President Mwai Kibaki's State Funeral took an interesting turn after he was asked not to talk about politics.

Archbishop Anthony Muheria asked the Former Primer minister to shun politics and strictly mourn the fallen president.

However, when  ODM leader Raila took to the podium, he went on to ask a crucial question that saw him applauded by a section of Kenyans who turned up at the State Funeral.

"I have been asked not to talk about politics. Many who share my plight will agree with me. It is like a priest being asked to mourn a Bishop without talking about his religious journey. How Can I mourn a politician without talking about politics?" he posed.

Raila and Kibaki share a rich political history together.

It is Raila's endorsement of Kibaki in 20o2 that saw Kibaki win the elections massively.

However, in 2007, the two faced each other off in a controversial presidential contest.

The protested  2007 election saw Kibaki and Raila agree to form a grand coalition government after negotiations spearheaded by Koffi Annan bore fruit.
