Barely days after Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga appointed a 7-member advisory panel to select his running mate in the August polls, the presidential team has issued an update. 

According to the Odinga presidential secretariat, the panel selected has already commenced the vetting process. 

In the statement signed by Elizabeth Meyo, the potential running mates will be meeting the panel between 4th and 10th May 2022. 

"Following the formation of the The Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya Coalition Running Mate Selection Panel, we wish to inform Kenyans that the process of vetting and eventual selection of the most qualified candidate has commenced.

"Rt. Hon Raila Odinga is giving this process mandated by the coalition's supreme body the seriousness it deserves. All the eminent Kenyans being considered for this important position of service to Kenyans will be meeting the selection panel on various days between 4th and 10th," part of the statement read. 


The members selected include; Bishop Peter Njenga, Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth, Senator Enock Wambua, Michael Orwa, Dr. Noah Wekesa, Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, and Beatrice Moen were appointed to the panel.

Among those being considered for the position include; Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Peter Kenneth, and Charity Ngilu.

The selection and vetting process shall be finalized by10th of May 2022.

Thereafter, the successful candidate shall be unveiled to the public the former Prime Minister.
