The poll was conducted by Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) in the period between April 22 and April 26.

The Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) has revealed the most popular political party and preferred coalition in Kenya ahead of the August 9 polls.

In an opinion poll released on Thursday, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party was the most popular party in Kenya while Raila Odinga’s Azimio coalition party was the most preferred coalition by Kenyans.

According to Tifa, the Deputy President William Ruto-led UDA party was leading with 34 per cent nationwide while Raila’s ODM came in second with 19 per cent.

In the poll, UDA held a tight grip on the Central region where it had a support of 62 per cent with ODM getting 5 percent in the region.

However, ODM led with 45 per cent in its Nyanza stronghold as UDA got 16 per cent of the total support in the region considered as Raila’s backyard.

UDA led in Mt Kenya with 45 percent with Jubilee and ODM coming in second and third respectively with 9 percent and 4 per cent.

On coalitions, Tifa intimated that Raila’s Azimio was leading with 36 per cent support from Kenyans while Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance had 33 per cent.

However, the pollster revealed that DP Ruto was the most preferred presidential candidate.

The poll by Tifa was conducted between April 22 and April 26, and it involved telephonic interviews.
