Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko now says the people surrounding ODM leader Raila Odinga are his undoing in his quest to be the next President of Kenya.
Speaking in Taita Taveta County on Friday, where he accompanied Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka for a series of campaigns, Sonko said Raila has no option but to pick his party boss as a running mate.
Sonko said Raila's advisory panel has been messing him since time immemorial saying it is time that he ignores them and makes wise decisions that will boost his chances to be the next president of Kenya.

"I want to say that we respect the ODM leader so much. But when we support Kalonzo to be Raila's running mate is not because we are selfish. It is because we believe he is the best person to ensure Raila wins the presidency," he said.
"The problem with Raila is the people surrounding him. Even when I was vying for the first time, I was a life ODM member. But when I begged Raila to allow for nominations he refused and said the people have refused. What happened? We faced on the ballot and ODM lost."
Sonko went on to say it is only Kalonzo who will make Raila a president in the August 9 polls.
He used the opportunity also to drum support for his governor's bid saying he won't be shaken in his bid to save the people of Mombasa from poor leadership.
Sonkoadded that he won't be cowed down by threats labelling him as an outsider in the Coast region saying they will be in for a rude shock.
He said he has good plans for the people of Mombasa adding that he will deliver massive development if elected.
