The MP supporters are expecting Gachagua to be named the DP's running mate even as reports claim the matter has caused a major standoff at the DP's Karen office.
Ruto was expected to name his running mate Saturday mid-morning but that could not happen.
The Mathira MP supporters have reportedly planned a major roadshow to celebrate in the event Gachagua is named the running mate.
Gachagua, a first-term MP, hails from Nyeri county.
He has been the face of Ruto's Mt Kenya support base.
Journalists who had camped outside Ruto's official residence from 10 am are yet to be allowed in.
It is reported that the search for Ruto's running mate has now narrowed down to two key aspirants from the initial list of six.
The two fronted aspirants are Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua. Ruto is expected to pick one of them as his deputy.
