Deputy President William Ruto has dispatched Elegeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to Ewaso Nyiro in Narok County to represent him at the burial of Nominated MP David Sankok's son.

Memusi Sankok died from a single bullet shot to the head, a post-mortem report revealed on Friday.

Memusi is said to have killed himself after disagreeing with his father over his academic life.

Sankok being his ally, the DP was supposed to attend the burial after naming his running mate but that hit a snag following reports of a standoff at his Karen residence.

The DP race has narrowed down to Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.

The two leaders are said to have been holed in a meeting that will see one person picked to deputise Ruto.

Both supporters of Kindiki and Gachagua appear charged up across the country as they expect the DP to name their preferred candidates.

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang was in the company of Senator Murkomen.
