Detectives in Kiambu County have identified the prime suspect behind the murder of Purity Wangeci Kiringa, a student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, May 15, said that VDJ Flex was behind the cold-blooded murder of the 19-year-old student.

According to the DCI, Wangeci’s lifeless body was discovered on Saturday morning, May 14, by the roadside near Mburiria estate in Kiambu County.

The body of the deceased had visible stab wounds and preliminary investigations by the DCI sleuths established that the Wangeci had been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped by the roadside.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the detectives established that the 19-year-old had been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene by her killers,” DCI stated.

A bloodstained bedding, clothes and an identification card belonging to Wangeci were retrieved at the scene. DCI said that Wangeci had left college on Friday to visit her boyfriend who lives in Kirigiti, Kiambu County.

“According to her friends who were interviewed by the sleuths at the college, Purity and the boyfriend recently had a misunderstanding, after she discovered that he was a thug and confronted him with the facts,” DCI stated.

The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect. Wangeci’s body was moved to City Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
