Murang'a women rep Sabina Chege has broken her silence after Raila Odinga named Martha Karua as her running mate.

The Murang'a women rep was one of the shortlisted candidates for the deputy running slot in Azimio.

Following the announcement by Odinga, Sabina congratulated Karua for bagging the slot and reaffirmed her support for the former Prime Minister.

"I welcome the decision by our flagbearer and Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga to name Hon. Martha Karua as our coalition running mate. This is a win for women and a momentous victory for Kenya. We have once again bent the arc of history towards inclusivity and change.

"It shows that Azimio is committed to the ideals that make this country great. I will continue to offer my unequivocal support for our principals as we march on towards August 9th, 2022. Congratulations Martha Karua, we are so proud of you," she stated.

Other candidates who were interviewed for the running mate slot are CS Peter Munya, Governor Hassan Joho, Kalonzo Musyoka, Governors Lee Kinyanjui and Charity Ngilu.
