DP Ruto: I've a constitutional duty to assist my boss, the president. We've made improvements to BBI post Bomas.

Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday, November 28, explained his recent tweet that appeared to embrace some sections of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report despite expressing contrary views before.

In the tweet, the DP welcomed the decision to amends some sections of the report to address issues facing local mwananchi and also add more powers to the Senate.

“New Article 11a in the BBI Constitution bill introduced after Bomas will anchor the ordinary peoples' hustler economics of wheelbarrow, boda boda, mama mboga, pastoralists/butchers and guaranteed minimum returns on coffee, tea, korosho, sukari and maize. Bottom up not trickledown economics,” the DP tweeted.

The tweet elicited massive reactions forcing the DP to put out another tweet indicating that as Deputy President, he has a Constitutional obligation to assist the President in all his duties including BBI.

The DP further noted that he is happy with the changes made so far, adding that he is now working to ensure that all stakeholders are in consus before BBI is taken to Kenyans for a vote.

"I've a constitutional duty to assist my boss, the president. We've made improvements to BBI post Bomas. Now working on consensus for Kenyans to have real choices to decide/vote while avoiding yes/no, all/nothing division. We avoided lose-lose we can overcome win-lose to achieve win-win,” he said.
