The Deputy President has promised a lot to women if the Kenya Kwanza Alliance assumes power in August.

Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that the face of the upcoming August 9 general election is a woman.

Speaking at the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday, June 10, the DP said that he would ensure women are included in his Kenya Kwanza administration if it assumes power in August.

The DP promised to implement the third gender rule in his administration under the first three months adding that 50 percent of his Cabinet will be women.

“I commit to actualize the two-thirds gender rule and to put in place mechanisms within the first three months of the Kenya Kwanza gov’t; we shall allocate 50 percent of cabinet to women,” the DP stated during the Kenya Kwanza Women Charter conference.

The second in command further promised that in his administration, all women would have health insurance through the National Health Insurance Fund.

“We will establish the Hustler Health Care Programme where every woman in Kenya shall be insured by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF),” the DP stated.

The Deputy President also promised to give free diapers to all women with newborn babies for the first three months following delivery.

Among other promises by Ruto were the establishment of a fund to offer credit to women and the establishment of a women's right agency to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The event by the DP at Nyayo Stadium was attended by a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders and hundreds of women drumming support for the coalition.
