Mwea East Sub-county police boss Daniel Kitavi confirmed the woman's death.

A convict who President Uhuru Kenyatta pardoned has allegedly murdered his mother.

Mwea East Sub-county police boss Daniel Kitavi confirmed to the media that the convict is being looked for on allegations that he butchered his mother identified as Grace Muthoni Ndambiri.

Witnesses who came across the body of the deceased reported the matter to the police who took up investigations.

Reports indicate that the convict was embroiled in a land tussle with his mother.

He was allegedly demanding to be allocated land.

Kitavi confirmed that the deceased sustained injuries to the head after examining her where she was found dead in a pool of blood.

"The woman was fatally attacked as she had deep cuts in the head. The man who was released from jail after being pardoned by the President had been demanding a share of the family land from his mother and the duo used to quarrel. We suspect the man eliminated the old woman after she refused to meet his demand," Kitavi stated.

During the Madaraka Day celebration on June 1, Uhuru pardoned 3808 prisoners after he was advised by the power of mercy advisory committee.

“On the recommendation of the Power of Mercy Advisory Committee, I have on this day exercised the presidential prerogative of pardon and granted a second chance to 3,908 inmates,” he stated
