Deputy President William Ruto has lashed out at the Government accusing them of a witch-hunt in the ongoing case involving Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja's degree.

Addressing a political rally in Kisii, Ruto said the State should stop targeting Sakaja politically saying their candidate has the requisite papers required for one to vie for the Nairobi Governor Seat.

He accused the deep state and the ruling Jubilee party of plotting to lock out the Senator from the Nairobi Governor race.

"Wacheni Kukoraga mambo ya Sakaja. Watu wa deep state na system wanapiga simu kila mahali. Wamepiga simu mpaka State House Uganda wakitafuta njama ya kusimamisha sakaja asiwe governor wa Nairobi," he said.

"Mimi nataka niwaambie Jubilee, tukutaneni kwa debe. Wachaneni na Sakaja. Johnson Sakaja ako na certificate ya Kutosha."

He turned the heat on Raila saying:

Wacheni utapeli."
