Gitonga said that Jubilee had communicated to Bahati and that his campaign on the ruling party had come to an immediate end.

The fate of Mathare parliamentary hopeful Kevin Kioko alias Bahati seems to have been sealed after the Jubilee party made a final decision on his candidature.

This was after Jubilee Party Chairman (Nairobi branch) Gitonga Ndegwa revealed that the party had decided to drop their candidate Kioko in support of Anthony Oluoch of ODM in the Mathare constituency.

Addressing the press on Monday evening, Gitonga said they had communicated the party's decision to Bahati and that his campaign on the ruling party had come to an immediate end.

According to Gitonga, Jubilee, Wiper, and ODM parties are going to unite and rally behind Anthony Oluoch in Mathare as one way of solidifying Azimio la Umoja's victory in the constituency.

"We have come together to unite our Jubilee, ODM, and Wiper delegates. We have all agreed in one voice to endorse our ODM candidate in Mathare Anthony Aluoch. Ndegwa Gitonga, Jubilee chairman Nairobi County.

"We have already explained everything to Bahati that we will support Aluoch as Azimio la Umoja team. All his campaigns have come to an end and as Jubilee, we want to announce that we don't have a candidate in Mathare," stated Gitonga Ndegwa Jubilee chairman Nairobi branch.

Gitonga's statement followed another statement by ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna which had reported that Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition party had settled on the incumbent, ODM's Anthony Oluoch, to fly their flag in the August 9 polls.

Reacting to Jubilee's decision, Sifuna lauded President Uhuru's party for bringing the matter to an end. He said the Azimio team will now concentrate on campaigning for one candidate. At the same time, Sifuna made fun of Bahati, promising to personally take his apology to his family.

"Ahsante sana wana @JubileePartyK Nairobi for resolving the Mathare question for us. We now have a candidate. Hio kijana ya kulia lia nitachukua apology yake kwa Diana personaly," Sifuna chided Bahati.

However, the furious Bahati has come out guns blazing at Sifuna. The disgruntled aspirant expressed his frustrations over the decision, warning Sifuna to have decorum and leave his family out of his political woes.

He had also accused Rachael Shebesh and Sifuna of allegedly being offered Ksh3 million by his opponent to give misleading information concerning his ouster from the Mathare race.
