The female politician was clad in a full police uniform.

Police officers from Kilimani Police Station on Wednesday, June 29, busted a female politician who was impersonating a police officer live on TV.

In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the officers received information that of an ongoing interview at Inooro TV hosting an alleged uniformed female police officer as a panelist.

The police however said that they doubted the credibility of the interviewee before officers rushed to the TV station and arrested the politician.

The police said that she was identified as Monica Monica Wamaitha Gitau, a civilian and an aspirant for the Nairobi Women Representative seat.

“Doubting the credibility of the interviewee, police officers rushed to the TV station from where they arrested Monica Wamaitha Gitau, a civilian and an aspirant for the Nairobi Women MP seat in full police uniform,” NPS stated.

The police added that Ms. Wamaitha was currently assisting with investigations for the offense of impersonating a police officer.

Following the incident, NPS urged all media houses to liase with the office of the police spokesperson for clearance in interviews with police officers.

“To avoid similar incidences in the future, National Police Service wishes to advise all Media Houses to always liaise for clearance with the Office of the Police Spokesperson or respective regional or county commanders over all requests for interviews with police officers,” NPS stated.
