It has emerged that the burial of the late Matungu MP Justus Murunga was almost halted after a helicopter mishap.
Reports indicate that the pilot lost directions and landed the helicopter in a forest. The incident led to the delay of the burial by two hours.
The revelation was made by Lugari MP Ayub Savula, who spoke at the funeral ceremony. The funeral was held on Saturday, December 5, in Makunda village, Kakamega County.
"There was some problem in the morning when the pilot of the chopper got the wrong coordinates and landed the plane in Lugari forest," he noted.
The legislator added that the situation took two hours to resolve, but the pilot was finally given the right direction coordinates and eventually landed in the late parliamentarian's homestead.
The highly-publicized burial was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi.
During the burial service, the politics related to the BBI ruled the air, with DP Ruto maintaining that there was still room for consensus.
On the other hand, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi warned that prolonged politics around the BBI would threaten investors' eying opportunities.
