President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed reports that a Cabinet Reshuffle is in the offing, stating that there is no time for that.

Speaking on Monday during the #KenyaNiMimi youth campaign at Bomas, President Kenyatta noted that he is on his way out, adding that Cabinet nominees require approval by Parliament which is quite a long process.

In views of the above, the Head of State noted that he would have wished to have 25-year olds in his Cabinet, but time does not allow him to nominate them now.

“I am not keen on making Cabinet changes because appointments take long, involves Parliament and I don’t have much time left... I’d otherwise appoint 25 year olds to cabinet,” he said.

Explaining why his government has resorted to appointing military men to crucial dockets, President Kenyatta noted that members of the military boast of high levels of discipline and efficiency in service delivery.

He gave an example of the Kisumu Port when military involvement in the renovation exercise saved the country Sh30 million.

“If all of us had the discipline, integrity of our armed forced, Kenya tungekuwa mbali sana. I continue to encourage the youth to be more like the military in the way they conduct their day today activities… There was an old vessel they wanted to sell for scrap, I involved the Military & for less than almost Ksh. 30 M, the vessel is now fully functional,” he said.
