ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru claimed that 4 million Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) signatures were from the youth.

Speaking at Bomas on Monday, December 7 2020, CS Mucheru opined that the turnout by the youth was an indicator that young people support the initiative.

"Of the 5.2 Million BBI signatures collected, about 4 million were from the youth. These are the people making decisions on behalf of Kenya," CS Mucheru said.

The CS was speaking at the event attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta where he spoke with young Kenyans during the official launch of the #KenyaNiMimi youth dialogue campaign.

The Head of State fielded questions from the youth on a number of subjects including leadership, entrepreneurship and the #BBI constitutional reform process.

"#KenyaNiMimi is a dialogue platform for the Kenyan youth to actively participate in nation building and drive youth agenda in leadership, innovation, social cohesion, equality & entrepreneurship," read a statement from State House.

Last week ODM leader Raila Odinga received 5.2 million signatures collected countrywide to endorse the BBI but the President was not available.

Raila said President Uhuru Kenyatta could not attend the event because he was to attend another government function.

"We talked with the President and we agreed that he goes for another function with the governors as I come here," said Raila.
