After preliminary investigations, the lady was taken in and presented before court on Monday, where it was directed that she be held for 7 days to enable the police probe the allegations of attempted murder of Senator Mutinda.

Last week, Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka was rushed to the Nairobi Hospital ICU after collapsing at a Kilimani house alongside a lady friend.

Following the incident, the lady identified as Esther Muli was questioned by detectives in a bid to establish what happened prior to the Senator’s illness.

After preliminary investigations, the lady was taken in and presented before the court on Monday, where it was directed that she be held for 7 days to enable the police to probe the allegations of attempted murder of Senator Mutinda.

According to police reports, Senator Kabaka checked-in at an apartment on Elgeyo Marakwet Road Thursday alongside a woman identified as Esther Muli.

The senator was later rushed to the Nairobi Hospital ICU after collapsing at the said apartment in Kilimani.

"The scene was processed by crime scene support services and evidence found at the scene forwarded to the Government analyst for analysis since most of them are perishable," part of the police statement read.

However, according to the family, the Senator fainted while having a drink at a restaurant in Kilimani.

“The senator collapsed on Thursday while having a drink at a restaurant in Kilimani area but was still conscious and he requested the management to call for an ambulance to rush him to Nairobi Hospital,” part of the statement read.

By press time, no update had been issued on the Senator’s medical status or cause of illness.
