Deputy President William Ruto has challenged leaders to get their priorities right.

Speaking on Tuesday, the DP said the coronavirus pandemic has dived Kenya into an economic crisis that calls for special attention.

“To deal with these challenges that threaten our survival, we must start by focussing on how to deal with the health pandemic,” Dr Ruto said.

He opined that the government should ensure healthcare workers, particularly those at the frontline, are protected and their issues are taken care of.

“We must engage with the leadership of our medics so that we can address the issues that they have raised,” Dr Ruto argued.

His statement comes after 28-year-old Doctor Stephen Mogusu died of Covid-19 on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), tried to raise money for his care and hospital bill.

According to KMPDU, Dr Mogusu had not received his salary for 5 months, had no insurance.
