ODM's National Executive Council resolved to suspend Kilifi North MP Owen Baya after visiting DP Ruto

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Executive Council (NEC) has resolved to suspend Kilifi North Member of Parliament Owen Baya over his recent political moves.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said Baya had also been relieved of his post as the party’s deputy organising secretary.

Speaking in Athi River on Saturday, Sifuna opined that the NEC is the party’s crucial organ hence they can’t afford to have the legislator as a member following his recent political alignments.

Msambweni By-election

This comes after Baya joined other MPs from the coastal region who visited DP William Ruto amid the hotly contested Msambweni parliamentary seat.

Baya was part of a delegation of Coast MPs that escorted Feisal Abdallah Bader, an aspirant for the Msambweni parliamentary seat, to meet DP Ruto at his Karen office.

In August 2020, ODM made changes to its two critical organs, paving the way for party grassroots elections and revamping ahead of the 2022 General Election.
