Murkomen: Msambweni top security officers transferred a night before elections meanwhile a team of police officers who have been meeting a Governor in Mombasa are set to take over from to tonight. What is the motive?

A section of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have raised alarm after top police officers in Msambweni were reportedly transferred hours to the much-awaited mini-poll.

Without giving any evidence, the leaders claimed that there is more to the alleged transfers than what meets the eye.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen alleged that the new team of Msambweni security bosses have been meeting an unnamed governor in Mombasa.

“Msambweni top security officers transferred a night before elections meanwhile a team of police officers who have been meeting a Governor in Mombasa are set to take over from to tonight. What is the motive?” he tweeted.

On her part, Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome demanded for an explanation from the Ministry of Interior over the alleged transfer.

“The PS Interior and Coordination National Gov’t. Tell the country why you have made an emergency transfer of OCPD Bitok of Msambweni and his police officers. Are you planning to mess up with Electoral security for by-election tomorrow?” she tweeted.

Msambweni residents take to the polls today to determine their next Member of Parliament.

ODM’s Omar Bora and Independent Candidate Feisal Abdallah are considered the frontrunners in the election.

The Msambweni seat fell vacant following the death of former MP Suleiman Dori.
