Ex-Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama was arrested on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

The former Senator was arrested as chaos erupted at the Jomo Kenyatta primary school polling station in Msambweni.

Reports indicate that the polling station has closed amid the hotly contested battle.

Earlier,  Mvita Member of Parliament Abdullswamad Sheriff clashed with his Nyali counterpart Mohammed Ali in Msambweni.

The two clashed at ODM candidate Omar Boga's home area in Mworoni primary school, Ukunda township.

A video shared on social media showed the two in a fistfight with their supporters trying to separate them.

Msambweni residents have today taken to the polls to elect their new Member of Parliament in an election that has been termed as a battle between the pro-handshake team and the Hustlers movement.

Voters started queuing at polling stations as early as 6:30 am, indicating how eager they are to vote in their new leader.
