There was drama in Msambweni after Lunga Luga, Member of Parliament Khatib Abdallah Mwashetani, was spotted running away after being busted allegedly bribing voters. 

Reports indicate that Mwashetani was busted by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

In a recording that has since gone viral, Mwashetani can be seen walking away from households accompanied by his supporters. 

Some residents can be seen heckling the lawmaker while condemning him for interfering in matters outside his jurisdiction. 

At some point, Mwashetani is seen separating two opposing supporters who had engaged in a fistfight. Moments later, Mwashetani is seen running away from the scene. 

Polls in Msambweni opened early Tuesday morning, with locals electing the next member of parliament.

The election has been termed as a battle between the pro-handshake team and the Hustlers movement.

 The two leading candidates in the election are ODM’s Omar Boga and Independent candidate Feisal Bader.
