DP Ruto: Congratulation my friend Feisal Bader. Your win cements our trust in God and the people. Democracy and people power have triumphed. Watu wa Msambweni Mungu awabariki. Pongezi E. Mwihaki (Gaturi), S.Wanango(Lakeview), K.Ochieng( Wendani) and all winners. To others there's next time

Deputy President William Ruto has congratulated Msambweni MP-elect over his victory in the December 15, 2002 by-election.

In a tweet, Ruto said democracy and people power have triumphed.

“Congratulation my friend Feisal Bader. Your win cements our trust in God and the people. Democracy and people power have triumphed. Watu wa Msambweni Mungu awabariki. Pongezi E. Mwihaki (Gaturi), S.Wanango(Lakeview), K.Ochieng( Wendani) and all winners. To others there's next time,” he tweeted.

Earlier today, IEBC declared Feisal as the Msambweni MP-elect.

Feisal garnered 15,251 votes against ODM's candidate Omar Boga who got 10, 444 votes.

Many were expecting the ODM candidate to carry the day as Msambweni is perceived to be an opposition stronghold, but the constituents had other ideas.

Feisal’s win is a massive boost for Deputy President William Ruto who had endorsed his bid earlier on. The win indicates that Ruto’s team is successfully making inroads in the Coastal region.

Meanwhile, ODM has acknowledged losing the Msambweni by-election, noting that it is set to regroup and work towards achieving better results in future.

In a tweet, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna congratulated winners of the by-elections adding that for areas the party did not do well, they’ll ‘regroup and forge head’
