Atwoli was one of the ardent critics of President William Ruto ahead of the August 9, polls.

Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Thursday morning met with President William Ruto.

The COTU SG said the meeting centred on labour issues.

He also revealed that he sought his appointment to have a meeting with COTU_K SGs to discuss matters affecting workers.

"This morning I paid a courtesy call to H.E President William Ruto whereby we held discussions on Kenya's ratification of ILO C190 and outsourcing of labour. I also sought an appointment with the Head of State to meet and share with all @COTU_K Affiliated General Secretaries," he tweeted.

Atwoli was in Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja camp in the run-up to the August 9 general election.

He heavily campaigned for Raila and criticised Ruto even as he one time declared that he will never be president.

Atwoli has, however, recently reduced his involvement in political matters and is hardly seen with the ODM leader.

The meeting was also attended by the speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula. Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale was also present.

Other present were former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, Former Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, and Lurambi MP Titus Khamala among others.
