MPs have been recalled barely a week after they had proceeded on a recess.

Barely a week after MPs proceeded on recess, the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula summoned MPs for a special sitting.

MPs can be summoned for a special sitting while on recess upon the request of the Majority or minority leader.

A notice published in local dailies has indicated that the speaker recalled MPs for the sitting upon the request by Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wa.

“I have received and acceded to a request from the Leader of the Majority Party to hold a special sitting of the National Assembly,” the speaker said in a notice published in local dailies.

The special sitting will give room for the tabling of a report by the departmental committee on Finance and National Planning.

"After tabling of the report, there will be notification of Special Motion regarding the approval of nominees for the appointment to the position of members of CRA," the notice added.

The committee had vetted members for the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) hence the sitting will vote to either consider or decline the verdict of the committee.

CRA members are drawn from both the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Azimio coalition.

Among those fronted by Kenya Kwana are Benedict Muasya Mutiso,  Isabel Nyabura Waiyaki, Hadija Nganyi Juma and Jonas Vincent Kuko.

Azimio fronted former MP Fatuma Gedi, George Jalang'o Midiwo and Wilfred Koitamet OleKina.

Also to be discussed in the siting will be the approval of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Committee members.
