A man has died by suicide after poisoning and stabbing his four children in Homa Bay.

The man identified as Ronnie Ochieng is said to have attempted to kill his four children after having domestic differences with his wife.

Homabay police boss Samson Kine said two of the children were stabbed and two poisoned but they survived.

“The children survived and we hope they will pull through,” he said.

The minors are aged between 3 and 9 years.

The children however were rescued and rushed to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Ochieng is said to have locked himself with the four children in their rental house when he committed the brutal act.

Police said preliminary findings had shown he stabbed the children in the stomach using a kitchen knife after he allegedly tried to poison them with Triatix which is used in controlling ticks.

The deceased is said to have consumed pesticide ending his life.

The deceased's body was moved to the county referral mortuary awaiting postmortem as the probe on the matter continues.
