The Jamhuri Day celebrations will last for a period of one week.

The Cabinet has approved that national celebrations from now on will last for a period of one week. 

In a statement on Friday, December 9, by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam, the Cabinet further approved that the celebrations will focus on issues that touched on the aspirations and priorities of the nation.

Talam stated that this year's Jamhuri Day celebrations will focus on ICT and innovations, and there has been a focus on exhibitions and discussions in the sector since December 6.

"Cabinet has approved national celebrations, from now on, last a week and focus on an issue that touches the aspirations and priorities of the nation. The theme of this year’s Jamhuri Day – Connect, Innovate and Inspire – will be on ICT and innovations.

"As a result, between December 6 and 8, 2022, the focus has been on exhibitions and discussions on the sector, including the presidential launch of the Innovation Outlook for Kenya, at the Sarit Centre Expo Centre in Nairobi," read part of Talam's statement.

Talam further said that there will be high-level discussions on technology and innovations on December 10 and 11 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), which will be attended by various Cabinet Secretaries.

He further maintained that on Sunday, December 11, 2022, global tech leaders from various companies will be in Kenya to discuss various partnerships with the government.

The State House Press Secretary said that during the December 12 celebrations at Nyayo Stadium, various interventions, including tech scholarships for those attending, will be at play.
