A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier shot dead a civilian mistaken for a thief.
According to sources, the military police based at the Mariakani Barracks in Kilifi County fatally wounded the man after he defied orders.
The 25-year-old is said to have approached the sentry box prompting the guard to shoot in the air as a warning.
Despite the fire, the man went continued approaching the officer who resorted to unleashing fire on him.
