A recruit constable has been arrested after attacking his squad leader with a slasher at the National Police College Main Campus, Kiganjo in Nyeri County. 

The recruit whose course is nearing completion in less than two months lost his job and is staring at a court case on account of indiscipline. He has been slapped with a charge of assault. 

In an update by DCI on Friday evening, December 15, Trouble started for the conscript identified as Imbenzi Paul, after he failed to collect litter as instructed by his squad leader, during last Friday’s morning fatigue.

A brief argument ensued before the suspect reached for the crucial course man’s implement used in clearing long grass and inflicted an injury on the squad leader’s head, in an incident that shocked the entire college.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Kiganjo Police Station where he was booked for assault while awaiting to be arraigned in court to answer to his crimes.

The slasher used in the incident was kept as an exhibit. Meanwhile, the recruit who was assaulted was treated at the college dispensary and discharged in fair condition.
