Police in Kayole, Nairobi, have arrested two suspected carjackers after a morning raid by officers from Obama Police Station on Friday, December 16.

In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the two suspects, Patrick Masinde, 45, and Fernando Mwenda, 42, are currently being interrogated.

DCI said that 10 number plates, 43 driving licenses, tracking gadgets, identification cards and bank cheque books were recovered during the raid.

The directorate further added that tens of fake rubber stamps belonging to different motor vehicle selling dealers, financial institutions and the immigration department were recovered.

"Detectives based in Kayole are currently interrogating two motor vehicle theft suspects who were arrested in a raid conducted early this morning in Njiru, Nairobi county. The suspects Patrick Masinde, 45 and Fernando Mwenda, 42, were arrested minutes past 1am by a contingent of officers from Obama police station," DCI stated.

According to DCI, the suspects are believed to be part of a larger syndicate involved in carjackings and the sale of stolen motor vehicles in the city and other parts of the country.

The directorate said that there was currently an ongoing search at the suspects' hideout in Kayole to recover more information on their operations.

"A comprehensive search is currently ongoing at the suspect’s hideout in Obama estate aimed at gathering more information on the operations of the suspects," DCI stated.
