Mike Sonko said KSh 200,000 would be awarded to any member of the public helping in the arrest of the suspects who attacked the three-year-old.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has come out to harshly condemn the perpetrators of a heinous act on a three-year-old boy hailing from Ikuruma village, Kisii county.

Sonko offered to help investigators in their quest to bring to book the people who kidnapped Junior Sagini before gouging out his eyes.

An irate Sonko offered a KSh 600,000 bounty to the police officers or members of the public who would capture and eliminate the suspects.

Sonko was gutted about the fact that Sagini would not recover his sense of sight in his lifetime as established by medics.

The politician has said any police officer eliminating the said gang would bag KSh 400,000, with anyone helping with information leading to their arrest securing KSh 200,000.

"Doctors have said young Junior Sagini, the victim of the attack, will remain blind for the rest of his life. I have really been saddened by this sad incident and hereby offer KSh 400,000 to any police officer/officers who will shoot dead the members of this notorious gang," he said. 

"I also offer a further KSh 200,000 to anybody who will give information that will lead the police to eliminate this gang of cowards," he added.

Sonko also vowed to cushion the officers against the spotlight of the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) should they eliminate the suspected criminals.

Baby Sagini's eyes were gouged out by the heartless gang which dumped him at his family's banana plantation before taking off.

The minor went missing on Wednesday, December 14, before being traced a day later writhing in pain with blood all over his face.

He was rushed to the Kisii Eye Hospital where he has been recuperating after a medical operation.

The doctors however established that Sagini would not be able to see again after their assessment and operation.

"Both his eyes had been removed completely and there were some injuries in the lids. It looks like they used a sharp object like a knife," a doctor said.

The medics added that he would be booked in for a second operation after the first one stabilizes him.

The family's worry is to face the young one with the harsh reality that he will never see again in his lifetime.
