Oscar Sudi: Every Senator that voted for Governor Sonko's impeachment was paid 2M each as Christmas kitty. It is sad that Senators sacrificed the will of the people of Nairobi County just to satisfy Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has alleged that Senators who voted for the impeachment of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko were rewarded with Sh2 million each.

According to Sudi, Sonko’s impeachment was orchestrated by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who he argues is neutralizing all allies of Deputy President William Ruto believed to be causing problems for his administration.

He further noted that the impeachment was a move by the political dynasties to neutralize the hustlers who are gaining massive following across the country.

“Every Senator that voted for Governor Sonko's impeachment was paid 2M each as Christmas kitty. It is sad that Senators sacrificed the will of the people of Nairobi County just to satisfy Uhuru Kenyatta. Uhuru Kenyatta is trying to secure his legacy through fighting William Ruto and cut down to size everybody close to William Ruto. He began with Waititu and now Sonko out of insecurities that the duo will outshine him because they enjoyed overwhelming support from the two rich counties.

“Dynasties are so jealous that they don't want anyone to surpass them in terms of wealth, popularity or vision. But they keep forgetting that there are so many Sonkos and Waititus in the streets. Some people are so greedy to a level they think they will live this world for 500 years little do they know that they can't live beyond 80 years. Anyway, God bless them,” he posted on Facebook.

On Thursday, the Senate upheld the decision by the Nairobi County Assembly that saw 88 MCAs out of 122 vote for the impeachment of the governor.

Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka stated the four main charges namely; gross violation of the constitution and other laws, abuse of office, gross misconduct, and crimes under national law.

On the first count of Gross Abuse of the Constitution of Kenya, 27 senators voted in favor of the motion, 16 rejected it, while two senators abstained.

The voting pattern was replicated on all other charges preferred against Mike Sonko.

Sonko becomes the second Governor to be impeached after Ferdinand Waititu who was ousted in January.
