The Board of Directors of Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has appointed Joy Brenda Masinde as the new chairperson.

In a press statement on Monday, December 19, Ms. Masinde was appointed to the position following the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held last Friday.

She was appointed alongside other six directors who will serve in the Kenya Power board.

Among those appointed to the board included the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung'u and the Principal Secretary Ministry of Energy Andrew Kamau.

Others were Duncan Ojwang, Veska Kangogo, Logan Christi and Albert Mugo.

Kenya Power stated that Ms. Masinde has a vast experience spanning up to 20 years in civil society.

She is an advocate of the High Court and a member of the Law Society of Kenya and has previously served as a council member of LSK Nairibi branch.

Ms. Masinde holds a Bachelors Law degree from the University of Nairobi and she is the Executive Director of the East Africa Centre for Law and Justice (EACLJ).
